It is widely known that artists can find inspiration everywhere, even in places where ordinary people can not find it. It turns out that the latest technology can also be the inspiration. The relationship of art and technology will be discussed during the Warsaw Electronic Festival Conference (WEFCON) on 3rd and 4th December 2010. One of the workshops will be conducted by Marek Zawadzki from the Poznañ Supercomputing and Networking Center.
The idea of the Warsaw conference is to promote artistic expression inspired by technology, broader, more interdisciplinary approach to artistic activity and open discussion on topics related to technology and progress, inspiring artists and audiences of digital media.
WEFCON is a non-commercial event, the public has access to various panels and concerts, but the most important recipients of the content provided on the conference are artists and speakers themselves.
One of the workshops will be devoted to the use of supercomputers in artistic projects. This workshop conducted by Marek Zawadzki - an administrator of HPC systems, the employee of Data Processing Team of Poznañ Supercomputing and Networking Center. His speech will focus mainly on using computing systems. Currently they are able to perform quadrillion operations per second, which translates into the ability to analyze and process large amounts of various data in a short time. During the panel participants will try to answer the question how to exploit that potential in a unusual way, so far reserved for research studies, primarily related to simulations of physical, chemical, biological, etc, phenomena.
