Pioneer Innovation Award 2010 for the Wroclaw City Hall
During this year’s i3 Conference the Board of the PIONIER Consortium honored the efforts of the officials in the creation of Wroclaw City URBANCARD.
The second day of the i3 2010 Conference was marked with good practices. An opening session of good practices concerning multimedia services in the TASK Network, 15th anniversary of the Wroclaw Supercomputing and Networking Centre and URBANCARD service.

Traditionally, the Board of the PIONIER Consortium gave the Innovation Pioneer Award, which is the recognition for the innovative project of infrastructures or services for information society as well as fruitful cooperation with the research environment in the field of modern IT solutions.

This year, the prize went to Wroclaw City Hall for the launch of Wroclaw City URBANCARD. The card is a modern and multifunctional tool for electronic services and products consisting an electronic payment card. Since May 2010, public transport tickets are encoded in Wroclaw URBANCARD. The benefits arising from the use of URBANCARD are among others: the ability to reproduce ticket in case of lost or stolen cards, the general availability of points of sale of electronic tickets, the ease and convenience in using the card, the security of transactions, versatility and durability of the card and its ability to deploy new services.

Pioneering Innovation statuette received Director of the Department of Computer Science UMW – Dariusz Jędryczek from the hands of vice-chairs of the Consortium PIONIER Ph.D. Stanislaw Starzak and Ph.D. Maciej Stroiński.
