Conference dedicated to Professor Labuda
On 10th December 2010 will take place 13th scientific session of the “Double voice of Science” devoted to the sacred memory of Professor Gerard Labuda. The ceremony is hosted by the President of the Poznan’s Department of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Professor Jan Węglarz.
“The origins of the state and of the Polish Church in the research of Professor Gerard Labuda “- is a title of that session. Its organizers are: the Poznan Department of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Department of History Adam Mickiewicz University and Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The session will be held on Friday, 10 December 2010 at 10.30 in the Big Hall of the Centre for Science Academy, H.Wieniawski Street 17/19 in Poznan.

Gerard Labuda (born 28th December 1916 in Nowa Huta, near Kartuzy – died 1st October 2010 in Poznań) – Polish historian and medievalist. Scientific Specialty: general history and Polish history, Slavic history including the history of Western Pomerania and Kashubia, publisher of the Nordic and Anglo-Saxon sources of the history of the Western Slavs, history of culture and civilization, methodology of historical research. Rector of the Adam Mickiewicz University from 1962 to 1965. In 1984-1989 Vice President of PAN (Polish Academy of Sciences), in the years 1989-1994- President of the Academy, then its Honorary President. He lived in Poznań.
