Spring 2011 Internet2 Member Meeting in Arlington
„The Path Forward, Envisioning Opportunities” is the theme around which will focus the spring Internet2 meeting, held from 18th to 20th April 2011 in Arlington (Virginia). The meeting will be attended by representatives from Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center and the PIONIER Consortium.

The meeting of the prestigious Internet2 Consortium, developing and implementing network technologies, primarily using high-speed data transfer, are held twice a year – in spring and autumn.

The previous meeting took place in October 2010 in Atlanta. This year’s event will focus on such issues as: networking services, (cloud services, sharing resources), national/regional network organizations collaboration, global reach, engagement and leadership for development of the industry.

The idea and mainstream of the Internet2 meetings perfectly matches the PIONIER consortium’s activity. During one of the panels representatives of PSNC will present activities of the PIONIER network and its services for public institutions which carry out missions in Poland.

Internet2 Consortium was founded in 1996. The Consortium currently associates over 200 units: universities from United States, leading corporations, government agencies, laboratories and other institutions of higher education, as well as over 50 international partner organizations, among them PSNC as operator of the PIONIER Network – the only Polish representative.

The aim of the organization is to conduct research and the foundation of broadest possible informatization of society and the development of high performance Internet. The data transfer planned in future, is up to 1000 times greater than today. Through scientific and academic research, Internet2 promotes cooperation and innovation, along with the various technology leaders, government administration, industry representatives as well as the international community as a whole.
