PSNC has been consequently realizing a concept of a metacomputer construction. Computing on a large scale, the amount of solved problems, demands for a specific computing type and for data archives determine computing systems functionality. Because of limited calculating power the calculation on a large scale cannot be situated in one computer system. Advanced results’ visualization also requires specialized hardware platforms. Such requirements are met by environment that consist of many various, specialized computer resources managed by common politics of resources allocation (SMP computers, IA64 clusters, AMD64 clusters).
PSNC resources scheme:
In the recent years one could have watched significantly increasing demand for calculating resources that has determined long-term trend in a grid type construction of calculating environment. The initiatives undertaken in PSNC concentrates on sharing the resources with other computing centers counting on reciprocity principle. This situation arises from the necessity of loads’ balance, which translates into faster calculation results’ delivery to an end user.
