The most important dates from the PSNC history:
1993 foundation of the Poznañ Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) and the first HPC Cray installation
1994
 launching of the Metropolitan Area Network – POZMAN and High Performance Computing (HPC) center
1995
 SGI Power Challenge computer system is placed on the TOP500 list
1996
 contract with Poznañ City Hall for information society creation;
IBM SP2 computer system is placed on the TOP500 list
1997
 launching of POL-34 national network
1999
 connecting POL-34 to European research network TEN-155;
submitting of the PIONIER project
2000
 PIONIER network pilot;
formation of the European Grid Forum
2001
 connecting POL-34 to GÉANT network;
starting to build the PIONIER network project
2002
 PSNC joins 5 projects within the EU’s Fifth Framework Programme
2003
 founding the Consortium PIONIER;
launching 2600 km of the PIONIER network connecting 16 MANs
2004
 PSNC joins 7 projects within the EU’s Sixth Framework Programme
2005
 iTVP distribution system’s pilot within the PIONIER network;
PSNC as a host of Terena and SGI UG Conferences in Poznañ and Munich;
18 MANs connected with 10 GbEt backbone within the PIONIER network;
PSNC joins 1 project within the EU’s Sixth Framework Programme
2006
 Microsoft Innovation Center opening;
launching of the PIONIER direct optical link – DFN;
founding the PIONIER2 project;
founding the Advanced Information Technologies’ Center in Wielkopolska region;
PSNC joins 14 projects within the EU’s Sixth Framework Programme
2007
 founding the Digital Libraries’ Federation;
PSNC joins EUREKA and eContentPlus projects within the European initiatives’ framework;
PSNC joins 1 project within the EU’s Sixth Framework Programme
2008
 4000 km of the PIONIER network connects 21 MANs;
launching the PLATON project;
PSNC joins 9 projects within the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme;
PSNC joins eContentPlus project within the European initiatives’ framework
2009
 PSNC together with the Consortium PIONIER launches PLATON – Common Services Container;
PSNC as a MAN’s unit receives subsidies towards NewMAN project’s infrastructure;
PSNC organizes the first edition of “i3: Internet-Infrastructure-Innovations” conference in Poznañ
