From data sharing and integration via VPH models to personalized medicine
The nature of healthcare system is undergoing constant changes and p-medicine project is a response to it. New systems approach to disease assumes integrated diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease in an individual – a personalized predictive treatment.
The tasks within the project are focused upon creating an infrastructure consisting of tools and services that will enable transition of current practice into personalized approach and integration of multilevel datasets. Efficient secure sharing and handling of large personalized data sets facilitating demanding Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) multiscale simulations (in oncology), building standards-compliant tools and models for VPH research, and providing tools for large-scale, and privacy-preserving data and literature mining are the key tasks of VPH research. The data will be gathered from the cases of the patients suffering from Wilms tumour, breast cancer and leukaemia.
The main goals of the project are: developing VPH tools for clinical decision support, enhancing the use of IT in clinical care for education and training of clinicians, supporting patients safety and empowerment in clinical care, securing storage of data.
