The main goal of BREIN is the development of the Grid environment, which can be easily and effectively applied in business by its dynamic adaptation to business needs of participants. To this end, the project aims at integrating achievements from three domains: Grid infrastructures, intelligent agents, and semantic technologies. Their adoption should facilitate access to grid environments and enhance their interoperability. On the other hand, technologies provided by BREIN attempts to improve efficiency and reliability through increased scalability, autonomy of particular systems, and their adaptation to changing conditions.

Developed technologies are tested and demonstrated using two main scenarios: virtual engineering, especially computational fluid dynamics, and management of logistic processes at the airport.

Within the project PSNC concentrates on the development of infrastructure including distributed resource management with the use of advance reservation and a notification system for exchange of messages in a distributed environment. PSNC also leads standardization activities in the project.
