Students Fraternity LECHIA Established in 1920Restored in 1990/93

Fraternities are associations of students with long and interesting history. Currently they are being restored in Poland. Their aim is developing friendship among members, as well as patriotic and educational activities. The fraternities observe interesting academic customs, the traditions of which are as old as the European universities themselves.

At present, students of following four Poznan universities and their graduates are members of Lechia:

Adam Mickiewicz University
University of Economics
University of Medical Sciences
Agricultural University of Poznan
Poznan University of Technology
University School of Physical Education .

The members of Lechia meet at convents, i.e. assemblies dedicated to current activities, lectures, and discussions. From time to time, there are also fraternal meetings and festivals (as Founder's Day). The photo below shows the flag bearers of Lechia and the board during one of these festivals. In the board you can see: Lechia's honorary alumnus, Prof. Bohdan Gruchman (the former Rector of the University of Economics), the first President of the Fraternity, Lukasz Bielecki and Mr. Sylwester Kubera, our alumnus.

Other forms of activities include field trips, public lectures, and balls.

For several years, Lechia has been organizing the Celadon Ball in the great hall of the Poznan Academy of Economics on the last Saturday of Carnival. Professor Emil Panek, the Rector of the Academy is the honorary sponsor of the ball. The idea is to integrate the academic community of our city.
One of the attractions of the Celadon Ball is a performance by Lany, the folklore ensemble of the Agricultural University of Poznan.

"Lechia" is among the fraternities which restored The Association of the Polish Fraternities (ZPKA) in November 1999.
